VOLUNTEERS

The KNRA needs your support!

We need an accountant or book-keeper who would like to do our books regularly. We need lawyers who can help advise us on how to tackle to increasing volume of threats that the reserve faces every year. We need Connections - people who know people in positions of authority in the private and the public sector. We need people who can help the association raise big sums of money. (For purchasing strategic pieces of ground surrounding the reserve). We need fund-raisers to assist with our on-going fund-raising events.

We need nature enthusiasts to help with monitoring and recording and photographing all the fauna and flora in the reserve - Such a wonderful opportunity for students studying towards their zoology diplomas or degrees, or a professional, or a retired person, or a lay person who wants to learn more on some aspect of nature. We need an IT person who understands how to create a database for all this on-going information needed and is able to link it to this website.

We need volunteers to help keep the reserve stay "natural". Every time there is a storm up in Mondeor, the streams that feed the Bloubosspruit deposit their rubbish along the banks of the Bloubos. It's so unatractive to the eye! It needs regular clean-ups. The alien trees along the Bloubos are increasing all the time. We need help to stop and remove this spreading.

We need volunteers who would like to participate in the guiding programme - general or specialist. We have about 50 guided walks scheduled for 2009!

The association has projects lined up that are simply being shelved as we don't have the resources to deal with them. Projects like building a path that people with disabilities can use, a cycle track around the perimeter for cyclists, adequate direction markers to help hikers... the list goes on.

Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve has such enormous opportunities to become the"Jewel of Johannesburg" let alone the "Jewel of the South"! But it's going to take everyone's effort to transform it.
